USB Cables with 45° Angle Connectors Added to L-com Lineup

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - 05/16/13 - L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has released six new families of USB 2.0 cable assemblies with 45° angle molded backshells. These new cables follow L-com's popular 90° USB cable assemblies.

USB 2.0 cables are commonly used in everything from home theaters and PCs to industrial automation and military equipment. Normal, straight USB backshells do not bend—and in tight space applications, such as a computer fitted into a small compartment or a crowded rack enclosure—improperly attempting to force in a straight USB connector can damage both the cable and the port that it is plugged into. L-com's right angle USB cables address this situation by allowing a tight, 90° bend at the connection point. The new 45° USB cables provide more options for users who require an angle but a tight, 90° angle may not clear objects near the port.

"When we released our 90° USB cables, they were immediately popular with engineers, IT professionals, and everyone from the manufacturers to the day-to-day users of USB equipment," said Steve Smith, Product Manager. "But we knew we could offer even more choices, so we invested in designs for other, hard-to-find angles on USB cables."

L-com has posted a free, downloadable tip to help determine the correct 45° angle for each application, in addition to engineering drawings and 3D CAD models for each part. With stock expected to be available by late June, L-com will be able to ship against orders placed the same day.
