Turbidity is a measure of relative water clarity, or cloudiness caused by the presence of particulate matter. This, as opposed to cloudiness caused by air bubbles. It does so by measuring the amount of reflected light coming from particles in the water. The intensity of the reflective light is directly proportional to the turbidity of the water.
