L-com Adds IP67 USB Shielded Cables to USB Lineup
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – 5/25/2010 – L-com, Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of wired and wireless connectivity products, announced today that fully shielded versions of its popular IP67 rated USB revision 2.0 cables are now available.
"The USB interface—originally intended to connect peripheral devices to desktop PCs—is now being used in almost all network settings, from high-speed data centers to industrial applications and outdoor networks" said Steve Smith, L-com Product Manager for USB products.
"Many customers contacted us to say that in dirty, wet environments they were using rough workarounds to ground the USB shield in our existing IP67 USB cables. We realized that our customers needed an alternative, so we came up with these cables that ground right to a panel. This is another example of L-com listening to what our customers had to say and using it to drive innovation."
Cable options are:
| 1. | A die cast steel, panel mountable female USB A connector to a standard male USB A connector (WPUSBAXSH series). The steel housing allows for efficient grounding to a panel or enclosure |
| 2. | A male USB A connector with a metal coupling nut to a standard male USB B connector (WPUSBABSH series). |
| When mated together these cables provide a completely shielded IP67 solution. Use the cover, WPCVR-SHLD-USB, to seal the female USB port when not in use. |
