L-com Adds New Combination 110 IDC Punch Tool and RJ45 Crimp Tool NORTH ANDOVER, MA - 02/18/13 - L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has introduced a modular Ethernet cabling tool to combine common wiring tasks: punching twisted pairs on an IDC jack and crimping RJ45 plugs. The new tool also retails at a price lower than the combination of separate tools and uses a compact, portable design that is easy for IT personnel to carry from site to site. The preferred method of connecting solid-conductor Ethernet cable, typically run for in-building Ethernet networks, to Ethernet jacks at wall plates or patch panels is Insulation displacement connections (IDC). These require the internal wires to be punched or pushed into a slot, a process made much easier and quicker by multi-pair punch tools. RJ45 plugs require a separate crimp tool to ensure the pins successfully pierce the insulation on individual wires to make contact. L-com's new tool eliminates the need for separate tools to complete these two common tasks. "We noticed these two separate tools were often purchased together and realized that a single IT or networking technician frequently needed both tools on a site," said David Gallagher, Product Manager. "We then made it a priority to improve this situation with a single, comprehensive tool solution. Now with a single action, an installer can punch all eight contacts in a jack, saving both time and money." The new HT-110EZ tool is expected to be stocked in L-com's North Andover, MA, USA location for immediate shipment when ordered.
