L-com Releases New Lightning Protectors for Cat5 Data Lines
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – 3/11/2010 – L-com, Inc., a leading manufacturer of both wired and wireless connectivity products, today released three new Data Line Lightning Protectors designed to protect 10/100 and 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet systems.
Outdoor 10/100 Base-T CAT5
Lightning Surge Protector - AL-CAT5SJW
This compact weather resistant lightning surge protector is designed for use with 10/100 Base-T CAT5 Ethernet networks and is Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) compatible. It provides protection to data lines as well as PoE DC power feed lines.

- 802.3af modes A and B PoE compatibility
- Reverse Polarity PoE compatibility
- Shielded RJ45 jacks to help reduce EMI interference
- Supports use of shielded CAT5 cable
Weatherproof 10/100 Base-T CAT5e
Lightning Surge Protector - AL-CAT5EJWP
Designed for all weather applications, this high power lightning surge protector is compatible with both CAT5 and CAT5E 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks. Like the AL-CAT5SJW, it provides protection for data lines as well as PoE DC power feed lines. This protector is an ideal alternative to the Motorola/Transtector ALPU-ORT.

Weatherproof 10/100/1000 Base-T CAT6
Hi-Power Lightning Protector - AL-CAT6HPW
The AL-CAT6HPW provides superior lightning and surge protection for indoor 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet networks. The unit has low line-to-line and line-to-ground capacitance to minimize distortion of high-speed signals. The shielded RJ45 jacks of this protector are isolated from the safety ground which minimizes the chance of a ground loop being introduced. This protector is a superior and lower cost replacement for the Motorola PTP-LPU lightning protector.
