New “Shark Fin” Style Snagless Boots Make High-Density Patching Easy

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

North Andover, MA – July 11, 2007 – L-com Connectivity Products today unveiled its latest patch cord innovation: snagless boots specially designed to be easily depressed. These new “shark fin” style cables are expected to be the new preferred style of patch cables especially for today’s high-density patch panels.

Snagless boots are used on RJ45 modular connectors to ensure the connector latch does not snag when the patch cable is being pulled through conduit, behind walls, or on cable ladders. Unfortunately, many typical snagless boots are difficult to depress due to a combination of design and material selection. L-com’s new shark fin boots are made of much more flexible material and are designed for easy latch depression. The low profile boot also allows for easy patch cable connection in high-density patch panels since the boot is the same width as the plug. The new series is fully compliant with Category 5E specifications for performance

The new cables come in nine standard colors and lengths from 3 feet all the way up to 100 feet. Custom length cables are also available on request and with modest minimum order quantities. Additionally, crossover versions will be available as well for direct connecting computers.
