Smaller-Gauge USB Bulk Cable Enables Flexible USB Cable Assembly Production NORTH ANDOVER, MA – July 27, 2011 – L-com, Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of wired and wireless connectivity products, announced today the release of USB bulk cable with 24/28 AWG and 28/28 AWG configurations. Unlike L-com’s existing USB bulk cabling product, which is 20/28 AWG, the newer versions are more flexible while still providing the USB’s superior power transfer. “Not a lot of companies are providing USB bulk cable right now even though there is a significant demand for it,” said Steve Smith, product manager. “We wanted to fill this gap by providing choices to our customers.” The new bulk cable configurations are USB 2.0-compliant and have double shields (braid and foil) to provide maximum protection against data-corrupting EMI/RFI. The 24/28 AWG configuration provides significant power transfer, while the 28/28 AWG version is primarily used for mini- and micro-USB connectors.
